New Mexico Governor to pursue EV tax credits to achieve zero-emission goals

(Reuters) – New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday said she will pursue electric vehicle (EV) tax credits and directed the state to transition to EV to achieve a zero-emission vehicle fleet by 2035.

“We will pursue EV tax credits in the upcoming legislative session to make EVs more accessible and more affordable for all. I also directed the state to walk the walk by transitioning to a zero-emission vehicle fleet by 2035,” Lujan Grisham said in a post on social media platform X.

New Mexico is the second biggest U.S. oil-producing state after Texas with an output of around 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd), representing almost 14% of total production of 13.0 million bpd, according to federal energy data.
