The U.K. Civil Aviation Authority said it has appointed Rob Bishton as chief executive with effect from Oct. 21.
The regulator on Friday said that Bishton joined the CAA in 2014, and has been a member of its board since 2019.
Bishton has an extensive career in aviation, with previous experience as a commercial pilot and serving in a number of senior industry roles, it added.
Paul Smith has acted as CAA’s interim joint chief executive since April 2023, according to its website.
The CAA said last month that it would launch a review into technical issues which caused delay and cancellation of hundreds of flights.
