MariaDB Shares Surge 24% After Buyout Offer

Shares of MariaDB rose after venture-capital firm Runa Capital said it had submitted a cash offer to acquire the company.

The stock was up 24% to 53 cents in after-hours trading, after falling 1.4% at Friday’s close. Shares are down 89% this year.

Runa Capital said Friday it had submitted an offer to acquire the struggling cloud database company for 56 cents a share, representing a premium of about 24% on the Sept. 13 closing price.

Runa currently holds a 7.8% stake in the company.
