Scotts Miracle-Gro Chief Operating Officer Mike Lukemire, a longtime company executive, plans to retire, and he will be succeeded next week by Nate Baxter, an executive who joined the lawncare company within the past year.
Lukemire, 65, will hand over the COO title on Sept. 3, but will retain his president title until his retirement some time in fiscal 2024. Lukemire has served as COO of the company since 2015 and has been with the company since 1995.
Baxter, 50, will take over as COO on Sept. 4. He joined the company earlier this year after serving as president of TEL US, a subsidiary of a Japan-based manufacturer of semiconductor and flat-panel manufacturing equipment.
“Since joining our company earlier this year, Nate has demonstrated a willingness to step up and make an impact while building important relationships inside and outside our organization,” Chief Executive Jim Hagedorn said.
