Australian miner IGO on Monday reported a 14% increase in nickel output and 11% increase in production of lithium-rich spodumene concentrate quarter-on-quarter, as well as a sharp rise in underlying earnings.
IGO said it produced 9,549 metric tons of nickel in the three months through June and 395,000 tons of spodumene concentrate. Underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization increased by 19% on quarter to 636.2 million Australian dollars (US$423.5 million).
“Greenbushes continues to perform above expectations, with a record quarterly production result” while “within the nickel business, Nova delivered a strong final quarter,” said Matt Dusci, the miner’s acting chief executive.
