Biden administration to name new FAA leader

The Biden administration is expected to nominate Mike Whitaker as the new head of the Federal Aviation Administration, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the plans. Whitaker served as the FAA’s deputy chief during the Obama administration. The FAA had been without an administrator since the departure in March 2022 of Steve Dickson, a Trump nominee. An official announcement could be forthcoming as soon as next week, according to the report, although it also said plans hadn’t been finalized and could change. A White House official told the Journal that no decision had been made. According to his LinkedIn account, Whitaker is the chief commercial officer of air-taxi company Supernal, a Hyundai company, and was an executive at United Airlines Holdings Inc.
