‘I quit Fox’: Geraldo Rivera says he’s done after being fired from ‘The Five’

Geraldo Rivera’s time at Fox News is up.

Rivera, who has been at Fox News since 2001, tweeted Thursday that “I quit Fox” after he was fired from the talk show “The Five.”

“After 23 years tomorrow Fox and Friends could be my last appearance on the network. Thanks for the memories,” he said.

In a statement, Fox News confirmed Friday will be Rivera’s last day at the network: “We reached an amicable conclusion with Geraldo over the past few weeks and look forward to celebrating him on ‘Fox & Friends’ Friday morning, which will be his last appearance on the network.”

Rivera, who turns 80 on July 4, had said last week that he was no longer a part of “The Five,” adding that “Being odd man out isn’t always easy.”

The veteran correspondent was part of a rotating lineup of left-leaning panelists on “The Five,” but his appearances in recent months have been more contentious with the show’s right-leaning panelists, and in April he was rebuked by network star Greg Gutfeld for criticizing Tucker Carlson’s “bulls—” Jan. 6 conspiracy theories after Fox fired Carlson.
