Honda recalls 1.2 million SUVs and minivans as faulty rearview camera raises risk of crash or injury

Honda Motor Co. has recalled about 1.2 million sport-utility vehicles and minivans, because the rearview-camera image may not appear on the display, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Honda vehicles being recalled include Odysseys, model years 2018 to 2023; Passports, model years 2019 to 2023; and Pilots, model years 2019 to 2022.

The potential number of vehicles affected total 1,198,280.

“Due to a faulty Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable connector, the rearview-camera image may not appear on the display,” the NHTSA said in a letter to Honda. “As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, ‘Rear Visibility.’”
