U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.56%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the rose 0.56% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index gained 0.93%, and the index gained 1.53%.

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 5.52% or 1.73 points to trade at 33.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE:) added 1.96% or 4.25 points to end at 221.56 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.65% or 0.82 points to 50.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Chevron Corp (NYSE:), which fell 0.96% or 1.53 points to trade at 157.33 at the close. Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) declined 0.78% or 1.15 points to end at 145.41 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.77% or 0.85 points to 109.86.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Carnival Corporation (NYSE:) which rose 12.53% to 14.73, Catalent Inc (NYSE:) which was up 10.28% to settle at 42.80 and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) which gained 7.22% to close at 18.41.

The worst performers were Nasdaq Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 11.81% to 51.00 in late trade, KeyCorp (NYSE:) which lost 4.26% to settle at 10.22 and T. Rowe Price Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.33% to 110.66 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Auddia Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 181.50% to 1.22, Asset Entities Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 75.65% to settle at 2.02 and Chinook Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 58.32% to close at 37.98.

The worst performers were Forza X1 Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 47.44% to 1.64 in late trade, Cyxtera Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 25.78% to settle at 0.05 and HTG Molecular Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 19.42% to 0.59 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1570 to 1407 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2102 rose and 1477 declined, while 143 ended unchanged.

Shares in Carnival Corporation (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 12.53% or 1.64 to 14.73. Shares in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.22% or 1.24 to 18.41. Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.96% or 4.25 to 221.56. Shares in Cyxtera Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 25.78% or 0.02 to 0.05. Shares in Chinook Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 3-years highs; rising 58.32% or 13.99 to 37.98. Shares in HTG Molecular Diagnostics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 19.42% or 0.14 to 0.59.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 5.65 to $1,971.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.16% or 2.92 to hit $67.25 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.76% or 2.81 to trade at $71.98 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.18% to 139.57.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.19.
