Software maker VMware and Broadcom on Friday mutually agreed to extend their proposed merger deadline to Aug. 26.
The companies may further extend their deadline if the deal doesn’t occur on or before the date and if all closing conditions except those related to regulatory approvals have been satisfied, according to a regulatory filing.
Broadcom announced a $61 billion deal to buy VMware in May 2022 after The Wall Street Journal reported on the talks prior to the announcement.
VMware Chief Executive Rangarajan Raghuram in April said the sale to Broadcom is expected to close on schedule in the fall despite regulatory reviews.
