Searches for the app simply returned no results or redirected to other competing wallet apps.<\/p>\n<p>The Bitcoin Lightning wallet was still available for download in other countries like Australia and Singapore at the time of its removal in the US, however.<\/p>\n<h2>Disappearance of the Leading Bitcoin Lightning Wallet<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>The reason behind the company\u2019s decision to pull its app from US stores is still unclear. <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walletofsatoshi\/status\/1727937085741678679?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1727937085741678679%7Ctwgr%5E4b21160efe21825eff80ffb9010da757e30d44fb%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcryptonews.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D136171action%3Dedit\">In an X post<\/a>, Wallet of Satoshi stated that they have made the \u201cdifficult decision\u201d to stop serving US customers for now, but hinted that the move could be temporary depending on \u201cfuture developments.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To our valued Wallet of Satoshi community in the United States of America,<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve dedicated ourselves to providing the best Bitcoin experience with Wallet of Satoshi, being at the forefront of Lightning usability and adoption. However, we&#8217;ve made the difficult decision to remove\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Wallet of Satoshi (@walletofsatoshi) <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/walletofsatoshi\/status\/1727937085741678679?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite the removal, existing US users of Wallet of Satoshi retain full access to their Bitcoin funds and can transfer their assets to other wallets if desired.<\/p>\n<h2>Wallet of Satoshi\u2019s Meteoric Rise<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>Wallet of Satoshi has seen massive growth recently in its Bitcoin Lightning transactions. Industry expert Kevin Rooke noted that the platform was on pace to process <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kerooke\/status\/1727365023981240550?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1727365023981240550%7Ctwgr%5Efe13287c983e47ccc3cf6d84c021bdec23503758%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcointelegraph.com%2Fnews%2Fwallet-of-satoshi-vanishes-apple-google-us-app-stores\">over 1.1 million Lightning payments in November<\/a>, which would be its highest-ever monthly volume.<\/p>\n<p>Lightning Network is a layer-2 solution built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain to enable fast, scalable, and low-cost Bitcoin transactions. Apple has faced criticism in the past for its restrictive policies toward crypto apps, however.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Apple temporarily removed the popular Ethereum wallet MetaMask from its App Store due to unspecified policy violations. And just this week, a class action lawsuit was filed against Apple by crypto app developers alleging anti-competitive practices regarding crypto payments on iOS.<\/p>\n<p>The disappearance has left US bitcoin users frustrated, as the app provided a convenient way to use the Lightning Network for payments and transfers.
