{"id":85849,"date":"2023-11-17T19:57:10","date_gmt":"2023-11-18T00:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/news\/a-fresh-look-international-dividends-annual-rebalance\/"},"modified":"2023-11-17T19:57:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-18T00:57:12","slug":"a-fresh-look-international-dividends-annual-rebalance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=85849","title":{"rendered":"A Fresh Look: International Dividends Annual Rebalance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-test-id=\"content-container\">\n<p><figure class=\"getty-figure\" data-type=\"getty-image\"><picture>  <\/picture><figcaption> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>By Matt Wagner, CFA<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When will international equities outperform the U.S.?<\/p>\n<p>This seems to be a constant refrain from investors over the last decade.<\/p>\n<p>Owing to outperformance in the fourth quarter of 2022, the MSCI EAFE has<span class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\"> clung onto a trailing 12-month advantage over the S&amp;P 500 of more than 4%.<\/span><sup class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Without the tailwind of mega-cap growth stocks in the developed international market, as in the U.S., international equities have lagged this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">That has meant less multiple expansion, and less expensive multiples, in international equities.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\"><strong>Refreshing Exposures in WisdomTree International Equity ETFs<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Earlier this month, WisdomTree completed the annual rebalance of its developed international dividend-weighted Indexes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">These Indexes were designed with a focus on being broadly diversified, highly correlated to the representative market cap-weighted indexes and investable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Each Index is tracked by a related WisdomTree<span class=\"paywall-full-content no-summary-bullets invisible\"> ETF with more than 17 years of live track record.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/saupload_figure-1_1.jpg\" alt=\"WisdomTree International indexes table\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">The screening date for the Indexes was September 29, with implementation of the rebalance at the market close of November 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">The <strong>WisdomTree International Equity Index &#8211; <\/strong>a modified dividend-weighted Index tracking the performance of more than 2,000 dividend-paying companies from the developed international universe &#8211; is the parent total market index of three market-cap segments of the international equity market as well as a high dividend index.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>WisdomTree International LargeCap Dividend Index<\/strong> \u2013 Comprises the 300 largest companies ranked by market capitalization from the WisdomTree International Equity Index.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>WisdomTree International MidCap Dividend Index<\/strong> \u2013 Comprises the top 75% of the market capitalization of the WisdomTree International Equity Index after the 300 largest companies have been removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>WisdomTree International SmallCap Dividend Index<\/strong> \u2013 Comprises the bottom 25% of the market capitalization of the WisdomTree International Equity Index after the 300 largest companies have been removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>WisdomTree International High Dividend Index<\/strong> \u2013 Comprises the top 30% of companies ranked by dividend yield from the WisdomTree International Equity Index.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>WisdomTree International Equity Index Hierarchy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/saupload_figure-2_1.jpg\" alt=\"WisdomTree International Equity Index Hierarchy chart as of 9\/30\/23.\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">WisdomTree creates its proprietary developed international universe based on the below main criteria:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>Geography: <\/strong>Incorporated\/listed in Japan, the 15 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or the United Kingdom), Israel, Australia, Hong Kong or Singapore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>Regular cash dividend payer: <\/strong>Pay at least $5 million in gross cash dividends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>Dividend sustainability: <\/strong>Companies screened out from the Index based on a proprietary composite risk screen of factors, including profitability, momentum and dividend yield<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>Volume: <\/strong>Trade at least 250,000 shares per month for each of the six months and have a median daily dollar volume of at least $100,000 for three months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<li> <strong>Minimum market cap: <\/strong>Companies must have a minimum market cap of $100 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">After running the above screens to include eligible international dividend payers in the Index, constituents are then fundamentally weighted based on regular cash dividends paid, adjusted for a propriety composite risk screen of dividend sustainability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Top 10 WisdomTree International Equity Index Holdings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/saupload_figure-3_1.jpg\" alt=\"Top 10 WisdomTree International Equity Index Holdings table as of 9\/29\/23.\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">The total market WisdomTree International Equity Index has a trailing 12-month dividend yield of 4.25%, an improvement of about 100 basis points over the MSCI EAFE Index.
