{"id":85397,"date":"2023-11-16T15:41:49","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T20:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/crypto\/microsoft-and-tencent-join-forces-with-infura-for-blockchain-infrastructure\/"},"modified":"2023-11-16T15:41:50","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T20:41:50","slug":"microsoft-and-tencent-join-forces-with-infura-for-blockchain-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=85397","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft and Tencent Join Forces with Infura for Blockchain Infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_132527\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-132527\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-132527\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Microsoft Office \/ Source: Adobe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Crypto infrastructure giant Infura is taking its first step toward decentralizing core components of its service following years of criticism that the company is a \u2018single point of failure\u2019 for Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>Over a dozen Web2 giants including Microsoft and Tencent have partnered with Infura\u2019s parent company, Consensys, to help decentralize the network, which will help prevent outages for the firms leveraging its technology stack.<\/p>\n<p>That includes the Consensys-owned Metamask wallet \u2013 the most popular Ethereum \/ Web3 wallet boasting over 30 million users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cost and complexity involved with running a service like Infura was kind of limiting in terms of who we could partner with to serve this traffic,\u201d said Andrew Breslin, senior product manager at Consensys, to CoinTelegraph. \u201cNow there\u2019s this huge flourishing ecosystem of Web3 infrastructure providers that can provide a service that\u2019s complimentary to Infura.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Infura first announced plans to decentralize its service over a year ago. In August 2023, it published a blog post explaining how its Decentralized Infura Network (DIN) would begin by federating its RPC layer by routing requests \u201cbased on a federated system of providers with distinct offerings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Breslin, DIN will offer \u201cfailover support\u201d for Ethereum and its layer 2 Polygon network, meaning Infura can reroute traffic to its partners in the event of an outage.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f Infura, alongside our partners, is pushing the boundaries of decentralization. <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re making a significant stride in the development of the Decentralized Infrastructure Network (DIN), Read the two-part series \ud83d\udc47<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Infura (@infura_io) <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/infura_io\/status\/1724507748727926954?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 14, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Infura\u2019s Centralization Problem<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>Infura isn\u2019t required for Ethereum to keep running, but its service is required by a slew of popular Ethereum applications that rely on it for uptime and accurate data.
