He stated that,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLegal action is coming to hold Yuga Labs accountable for the Ape Fest incident in Hong Kong and seek justice for those affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On November 7, Kamal <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iamasifkamal\/status\/1721986976822243760\">shared<\/a> a link to a petition asking for more safety in public events. \u201cI nearly lost my eyesight, enduring immense pain and anxiety,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the comments, he explained that he and several others got infected due to the UV lights at the Hong Kong event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m under constant medical supervision, and now my skin is starting to peel,\u201d the CEO wrote.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\ude4f Let&#8217;s create change together! I&#8217;m petitioning for Enhanced Safety Measures at Public Events. The incident in Hong Kong at <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yugalabs?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@yugalabs<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BoredApeYC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BoredApeYC<\/a> fest was a harsh reminder of how precious our safety is. I nearly lost my eyesight, enduring immense pain and anxiety. <\/p>\n<p>Please\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Asif Kamal (@iamasifkamal) <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iamasifkamal\/status\/1721986976822243760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 7, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>ApeFest was held in Hong Kong between November 3-5.\u00a0 As it began, attendees of the Yuga Lab\u2019s event started reporting eye pain, damaged vision, and burns.<\/p>\n<p>Many <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/crypto_birb\/status\/1721222853394121193\">called<\/a> on their fellow attendees with the same issues to see their doctors ASAP, as they may be in danger of losing their eyesight.<\/p>\n<p>Those who had gone to their doctor <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CryptoJune777\/status\/1721093778176614697\">reported<\/a> that the damage was caused by UV lights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got the Ape, will always hold it, love our community, and will keep backing them,\u201d Kamal <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iamasifkamal\/status\/1722256876057108849\">wrote<\/a> in a separate comment. \u201cBut I\u2019ll make sure those responsible for the incident own up, no hiding!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Artfi is a platform for fine art that enables investors to own a stake in artworks. It fractionalizes physical works of blue chip art for token holders around the world to own.<\/p>\n<p>It also has a dedicated NFT marketplace.\u00a0Per its CEO, the company is valued at $100 million.<\/p>\n<p>The Bored Ape Yacht Club Twitter account did not address the issue until November 6.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the team stated that they were aware of \u201cthe eye-related issues\u201d and were \u201cproactively reaching out\u201d to the attendees to find the root causes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on our estimates, we believe that much less than 1% of those attending and working the event had these symptoms,\u201d they <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BoredApeYC\/status\/1721477899264643192\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, November 9, the company <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BoredApeYC\/status\/1722419475440701487\">shared<\/a> a longer post, admitting that \u201cUV-A emitting lights installed in one corner of the event was likely the cause of the reported issues related to attendees\u2019 eyes and skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to encourage anyone experiencing symptoms to seek medical attention and share these findings with their medical provider.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Furthermore, the team said it was \u201ccommitted to supporting the recovery of anyone affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How the company plans to do so is still unclear, particularly as some have reported increasing medical bills.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On Sunday, November 5, Yuga Labs began to receive reports that some ApeFest attendees and staff experienced eye pain, vision issues, or skin irritation following the Saturday night community event.
