{"id":79730,"date":"2023-11-02T07:10:54","date_gmt":"2023-11-02T11:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/crypto\/swiss-bank-sgkb-partners-with-seba-for-crypto-custody-and-trading-services\/"},"modified":"2023-11-02T07:10:58","modified_gmt":"2023-11-02T11:10:58","slug":"swiss-bank-sgkb-partners-with-seba-for-crypto-custody-and-trading-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=79730","title":{"rendered":"Swiss Bank SGKB Partners with SEBA for Crypto Custody and Trading Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125779\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125779\" style=\"width: 1600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: SGKB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Switzerland\u2019s fifth largest cantonal bank, St.Galler Kantonalbank (SGKB), has partnered with SEBA Bank to offer custody and trading services for Bitcoin and Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>SGKB announced that the service is initially available to a select group of wealth-management clients at SGKB with future plans to expand the offering to retail customers soon.<\/p>\n<p>Christian Bieri, Head of B2B and Custody Solutions at SEBA Bank, said in an interview with The Block, \u201cSt.Galler Kantonalbank and SEBA signed the contract earlier this year, after a short implementation project, SGKB is now ready to offer access to cryptocurrencies to a selected group of clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bieri stated that the bank currently focuses on bitcoin and Ethereum with an intent to include more cryptocurrencies based on clients\u2019 demand. \u201cIn a first step bitcoin and ether, other currencies will follow shortly,\u201d said Bieri.<\/p>\n<p>This move marks SGKB\u2019s first step into the digital asset space, driven by growing client interest in cryptocurrencies. The bank sees this move as a way to meet the clients\u2019 evolving financial preferences.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_125783\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-125783\" style=\"width: 1600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-125783\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Falk Kohlmann \/ Source: SGKB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Falk Kohlmann, Head of Market Services at SGKB, shared his positive outlook on the collaboration. \u201cThanks to our cooperation with SEBA Bank, we\u2019ve implemented a straightforward initial setup, which allows us to learn and grow well aligned to our clients\u2019 needs,\u201d Kohlmann said.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership reflects a wider trend in Switzerland, with more banks expanding their service portfolios to include cryptocurrency offerings.
