The payments company posted revenue of $6.53 billion, which was in line with analysts\u2019 expectations. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>\u201cWe delivered strong revenue and earnings growth again this quarter, reflecting the solid fundamentals of our business and the continued resilience in consumer spending,\u201d Chief Executive Michael Miebach said in the earnings release.<\/p>\n<p>\n        Mastercard<br \/>\n       continued to see strength in its travel segment as the trend of a postpandemic rebound in travel continues. Mastercard\u2019s \u201ccross-border\u201d volumes increased 21% from the prior year.<\/p>\n<p>\n        Visa<br \/>\n       (V), which reported fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday, also posted strong cross-border growth.<\/p>\n<p>However, switched volume at Mastercard has shown signs of slowing, which was dragging on the stock. Switched volume, which refers to the total number and value of payment transactions processed through the Mastercard platform, was up 11% in the first three weeks of October, lower than the 14% in September and August, and 13% from July.<\/p>\n<p>The company also said it expects revenue growth in the low double digits for the fourth quarter from a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Mastercard fell 5% Thursday to $366.90 and were on pace for their largest percentage decrease since June 2022 and lowest close since May 2023, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
