CARACAS (Reuters) – Venezuela’s attorney general Tarek Saab said on Wednesday his office has launched a criminal investigation into the opposition’s weekend presidential primary on accusations of electoral violations, financial crimes and conspiracy and will interview two members of the organizing committee.<\/p>\n

The opposition has said repeatedly that the vote to choose their candidate for the 2024 election – which was won by Maria Corina Machado and attracted more than 2.3 million voters – was transparent and fair. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
