However, we are also seeing a higher share of notional volume executed this way, which reached a record 21.8% in September.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\"><strong>Volume breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">August\u2019s buying trend was reversed across all asset classes in September. \u2018Sells\u2019 in commodity-based ETFs surpassed \u2018buys\u2019 by 14 percentage points, while trading activity in the asset class rose slightly to 8% of the overall platform flow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Once again, North<span class=\"paywall-full-content no-summary-bullets invisible\"> America Equities proved to be the most heavily-traded ETF category, with EUR 8.65 billion in total traded volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<figure class=\"regular-img-figure paywall-full-content invisible\" contenteditable=\"false\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/saupload_2023september_etfupdate_eucharts_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"European-Listed ETFs Volume breakdown\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Top ten by traded notional volume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">There were two commodity-based products among September\u2019s ten most actively-traded ETFs. The iShares $ Corporate Bond UCITS ETF moved up five places from August to occupy the top spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<figure class=\"regular-img-figure paywall-full-content invisible\" contenteditable=\"false\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/saupload_2023september_etfupdate_eutop10_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"European-Listed ETFs Top ten by traded notional volume\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">U.S.-Listed ETFs<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Total traded volume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Total consolidated U.S. ETF notional value traded in September amounted to USD 47.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Adam Gould, head of equities at Tradeweb, said: \u201cIt was great to see ETF volumes tick higher toward the end of the month, as market volatility spiked and money managers repositioned portfolios. Regardless of market conditions, more and more clients see the benefit of putting liquidity providers in competition on their orders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Volume breakdown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">As a percentage of total notional value, equities accounted for 50% and fixed income for 42%, with the remainder comprising commodity and specialty ETFs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">\n<figure class=\"regular-img-figure paywall-full-content invisible\" contenteditable=\"false\"><span><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/saupload_2023september_etfupdate_uscharts_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"U.S.-Listed ETFs Volume breakdown\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Top ten by traded notional volume<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Eight out of the top ten ETFs by traded notional volume were fixed income-based.
