Netflix Inc. has become the media equivalent of a utility, with \u201cstatus as a long, durable service,\u201d according to Bernstein analysts. But that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean its stock is a winner. <\/p>\n

Bernstein\u2019s Laurent Yoon and Mark Shmulik began coverage of Netflix shares
\n NFLX,
\n +2.39%<\/bg-quote>
\n with a market-perform rating late Thursday, likening the stock to \u201ca good show,\u201d but one that\u2019s run on for many seasons to the point where they \u201ccan\u2019t decide whether to keep watching or see what else is on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe challenge of being labeled a utility, of course, is how a maturing company continues finding growth,\u201d the analysts said. \u201cWe see plenty of opportunities, though conclude that expectations are likely ahead of the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

While there\u2019s been a lot of hype about Netflix\u2019s ongoing crackdown on account sharing, Yoon and Shmulik don\u2019t think the initiative will be enough to keep subscriber growth on track. \u201cIt\u2019s likely we\u2019ll be 2\/3 of the way through capturing ~15M incremental paying subs by year-end,\u201d they wrote. <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t miss:<\/strong> Netflix\u2019s price hike plans may prove untimely as economy and stock market weakens, analyst says<\/p>\n

They also view the company\u2019s international push as somewhat of a mixed bag, since subscriber growth \u201ccomes at a cost requiring continued investment in local (language) content to see sustained growth.\u201d The Bernstein team sees \u201ca ceiling tied to insufficient local content,\u201d driving the analysts to a below-consensus view on subscriber expectations. <\/p>\n

While Netflix is \u201ceasily the best streamer,\u201d Bernstein is more upbeat about some more traditional media players, launching coverage of shares of Walt Disney Co.
