{"id":57411,"date":"2023-09-06T02:57:05","date_gmt":"2023-09-06T06:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/crypto\/russian-beauty-salon-in-digital-ruble-pay-first\/"},"modified":"2023-09-06T02:57:08","modified_gmt":"2023-09-06T06:57:08","slug":"russian-beauty-salon-in-digital-ruble-pay-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=57411","title":{"rendered":"Russian Beauty Salon in Digital Ruble Pay First"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A Russian beauty salon in Yekaterinburg has become one of the first businesses in the nation to accept a digital ruble payment \u2013 breaking new ground for the nation\u2019s CBDC.<\/p>\n<p>Per an official release from DeloBank, part of the Sinara financial and industrial group, one of the bank\u2019s customers paid for treatment at the unnamed salon in the past few days.<\/p>\n<p>The bank stated that the client \u201cpaid for a service in digital rubles\u201d via the Sinara app, and that the salon owner \u201cimmediately received payment\u201d in her Delobank-provided digital RUB wallet.<\/p>\n<p>The salon\u2019s operator, identified only by her first name (Olga), said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s cool to have become the first beauty salon in Russia to test the digital ruble!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Olga said that she found the new payment method \u201cintuitive, and most importantly, instant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sinara pointed out that it was \u201camong the first\u201d Russian banking groups to \u201cjoin the digital ruble pilot project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sinara and Delobank said they were \u201ctesting the digital ruble using mobile apps for individuals and legal entities [companies].\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Digital Ruble: A Boost for Russian Businesses?<\/h2>\n<p>Irina Kuzmina, the Director of Delobank, stated that the digital ruble would allow businesses to enjoy \u201cunique new opportunities to offer payment for goods and services,\u201d even \u201cwithout constant access to the internet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kuzmina noted that offline access to mobile, digital payments was \u201cvery important for our large country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some estimate that around 20% of Russians living in rural areas have limited or no internet access.<\/p>\n<p>Like China, another nation that suffers from connectivity issues in rural areas, Russia has stated that its CBDC must include offline options in the form of \u201chard\u201d wallets.<\/p>\n<p>But while Chinese banks have already rolled out mobile, smartcard, and wearable CBDC \u201chard\u201d wallets, Russian banks are still working on their first offline wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Kuzmina also claimed that the CBDC would allow customers to find new \u201cways to interact with companies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And she concluded that this would help ensure that \u201cthe digital ruble, along with cash,\u201d became \u201ca common means of making fast and easy payments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Yekaterinburg development comes hot on the heels of an announcement last month from the DeloBank rival PSB.<\/p>\n<p>PSB claimed that it had helped one of its clients \u201copen a digital wallet\u201d and use an app-generated QR code to \u201csuccessfully make a payment for services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bank said the client in question was an \u201centrepreneur\u201d who \u201cworks in the field of online education.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/news\/russian-beauty-salon-becomes-first-process-cbdc-payment.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Russian beauty salon in Yekaterinburg has become one of the first businesses in the nation to accept a digital ruble payment \u2013 breaking new ground for the nation\u2019s CBDC.
