Investing.com– Gold prices moved little on Tuesday amid a dearth of direct cues, while the dollar and Treasury yields remained steady before a string of Federal Reserve speakers this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While the yellow metal marked a strong run-up over the past two weeks, it has struggled to make headway in recent sessions, especially as the and remained resilient despite signs of cooling U.S. economic activity.<\/p>\n

Expectations that the Fed will keep rates higher for longer have kept investor appetite for gold limited, with recent and indicators showing that the central bank still needs to keep policy restrictive in the near-term.<\/p>\n

was flat at $1,938.78 an ounce, while expiring in December steadied at $1,964.50 an ounce by 01:03 ET (05:03 GMT).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fed speakers awaited as Sept meeting looms\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Markets are now focused squarely on a slew of Fed speakers this week, who are expected to offer more cues on monetary policy before an later this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prospect of a soft landing for the U.S. economy this year has also dented the yellow metals\u2019 safe haven appeal, although concerns over a Chinese and euro zone economic slowdown still provided some support.<\/p>\n

Copper flat amid mixed China signals, trade data awaited\u00a0<\/h2>\n

Among industrial metals, copper prices were flat on Tuesday, also coming under pressure from a steady dollar.<\/p>\n

A private survey showed that China\u2019s grew less than expected in August, offsetting some optimism over an earlier reading that showed some resilience in the .<\/p>\n

steadied at $3.8327 a pound.<\/p>\n

Concerns over slowing growth in China, the world\u2019s largest copper importer, have largely dented prices this year, as the country grapples with a slowing post-COVID recovery. Focus this week is now on key from the country to gauge its appetite for copper imports.\u00a0<\/p>\n
