But usage has declined since\u2014time spent on the microblogging app has fallen 85% more than a month after the launch, according to data from analytics firm SimilarWeb.<\/p>\n<p>A web version could be a way to lure back users. It will also make it easier to share posts on Threads and therefore get more eyes on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Meta did not immediately respond to a <em>Barron\u2019s<\/em> request for comment early Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The company has been using an early web version internally \u201cfor a week or two,\u201d head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said in a post last week. \u201cStill needs some work before we can open it up to everyone though\u2026,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced new updates, including the ability to share threads in Instagram direct messages, and sort accounts that users follow and see all the posts users have liked.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after its launch in early July, Mosseri said \u201ctons of basics\u201d were missing from Threads, but his team was working on introducing new features and changes.<\/p>\n<p>It may need more than a new web version to bring back users and mount a significant challenge to X, though.<\/p>\n<p>Write to Callum Keown at callum.keown@barrons.com<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/articles\/meta-threads-web-launch-twitter-x-musk-zuckerberg-824e2598?mod=markets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meta Platforms is set to launch a web version of its Threads app this week as the tech giant steps up its battle against Elon Musk\u2019s X, formerly Twitter.
