Investing.com \u2013 U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.<\/p>\n

At the close in NYSE, the fell 1.02%, while the index declined 1.16%, and the index fell 1.14%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Amgen Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:), which rose 1.93% or 5.04 points to trade at 266.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Home Depot <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:) added 0.61% or 2.01 points to end at 331.96 and International Business Machines (NYSE:) was down 0.03% or 0.04 points to 141.87 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Dow Inc (NYSE:), which fell 3.36% or 1.86 points to trade at 53.52 at the close. Chevron <\/span><\/span> Corp (NYSE:) declined 2.92% or 4.79 points to end at 159.24 and JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) was down 2.55% or 3.94 points to 150.83.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:) which rose 2.95% to 15.37, DR Horton Inc (NYSE:) which was up 2.89% to settle at 126.84 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 1.93% to close at 266.01.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Discover Financial Services (NYSE:) which was down 9.45% to 92.95 in late trade, PayPal Holdings Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which lost 6.01% to settle at 59.47 and First Solar Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which was down 5.49% to 199.83 at the close.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Delcath Systems <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 81.73% to 5.67, Novo Integrated Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 63.61% to settle at 0.12 and T2 Biosystms Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which gained 51.56% to close at 0.59.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Galecto\u00a0Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 71.22% to 0.67 in late trade, Design Therapeutics <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 70.46% to settle at 2.17 and Alaunos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 64.69% to 0.14 at the close.<\/p>\n

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2451 to 486 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2501 fell and 1015 advanced, while 101 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Galecto\u00a0Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 71.22% or 1.67 to 0.67. Shares in Design Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 70.46% or 5.16 to 2.17. Shares in Alaunos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 64.69% or 0.25 to 0.14. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 11.07% to 16.46.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.52% or 10.05 to $1,933.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.87% or 1.54 to hit $80.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 1.31 to trade at $84.90 a barrel.<\/p>\n

EUR\/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.09, while USD\/JPY rose 0.02% to 145.57.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.10.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
