Investing.com \u2013 Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.<\/p>\n

At the close in Sydney, the lost 0.86% to hit a new 1-month low.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Carsales.Com Ltd <\/span><\/span> (ASX:), which rose 6.99% or 1.72 points to trade at 26.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Nuix\u00a0Ltd (ASX:) added 4.90% or 0.07 points to end at 1.50 and Mesoblast <\/span><\/span> Ltd (ASX:) was up 4.17% or 0.02 points to 0.38 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Elders Ltd (ASX:), which fell 6.10% or 0.46 points to trade at 7.08 at the close. Pilbara Minerals Ltd <\/span><\/span> (ASX:) declined 6.03% or 0.32 points to end at 4.99 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.17% or 0.01 points to 0.23.<\/p>\n

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 720 to 512 and 437 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Carsales.Com Ltd (ASX:) rose to all time highs; rising 6.99% or 1.72 to 26.33. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P\/ASX 200 options, was up 3.88% to 11.73.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.25 to $1,946.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.09% or 0.91 to hit $82.28 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.87 to trade at $85.94 a barrel.<\/p>\n

AUD\/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 0.65, while AUD\/JPY fell 0.26% to 93.88.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 102.74.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
