Electric vehicle startup Fisker

\n made the first deliveries of its\u00a0Ocean SUV\u00a0less than two months ago. The company proudly announced that customers had taken possession of 22 examples in late June.<\/p>\n

But it has much bigger plans.<\/p>\n

At a Tesla-like
\n TSLA,
\n -1.10%<\/bg-quote>
\n \u201cproduct vision day,\u201d recently, Fisker showed off three more models it hopes to bring to market. Two had been rumored for some time, but one \u2014 a pickup \u2014 was a complete surprise.<\/p>\n

Fisker Pear<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The smallest of the group is Fisker\u2019s most affordable planned EV. The Pear (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) will be \u201cavailable in four trim levels, priced starting at $29,900, and scheduled to be available in mid-2025.\u201d<\/p>\n

A compact SUV, the Pear \u201cdelivers sporty handling while allowing room for spacious and modular interior with seating for up to six,\u201d the company says. Fisker offered no performance details.<\/p>\n

Fisker has been accepting reservations for the Pear for some time. Interested buyers can get in line for $250.<\/p>\n

Fisker Ronin<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n

The second of the group is what Fisker calls \u201cthe world\u2019s first all-electric 4-door convertible GT sports car.\u201d The\u00a0Fisker Ronin\u00a0uses three electric motors \u201cprojected to deliver massive 1,000-plus horsepower and 0-60 mph in approximately 2.0 seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n

It will seat five, the company says, and combine a hardtop convertible form with four butterfly doors.<\/p>\n

Shoppers can reserve one Ronin for $2,000 and a second for a \u201cfully refundable\u201d $1,000 fee \u2014 which seems to suggest that the first reservation isn\u2019t refundable.<\/p>\n

Fisker did not reveal the final pricing for the Ronin.<\/p>\n

Fisker Alaska<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The third new model \u2014 one the press had never seen before \u2014 is a 4-door pickup called the Alaska. It includes \u201ca cargo bed extendable from 4.5 feet to 7.5 feet to 9.2 feet.\u201d Fisker predicts a driving range of 230 to 340 miles and says pricing will start at $45,400.<\/p>\n

Interested shoppers can reserve one Alaska for $250 and a second for a refundable $100 fee.<\/p>\n

All of this is still precarious<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The designs are impressive. But designing an electric car isn\u2019t the hard part. Taking it from a model you show off to the press to a car available for purchase is.<\/p>\n

TechCrunch notes that Fisker had some less promising news on that front. Company chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker told the publication that a promised deal with manufacturing giant Foxconn
\n 2354,
\n -0.71%<\/bg-quote>
\n may not be as firm as the company has implied in the past.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the Foxconn deal specifically, we don\u2019t yet have a final conclusion to this deal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Fisker is one of several EV startups hoping to become the established automakers of the future. But that is a daunting task.\u00a0Analysts increasingly predict that a culling of startups is likely,\u00a0with some newly launched EV builders shutting down over the next few years.<\/p>\n

Rival Lordstown Motors
\n RIDEQ,
\n -2.09%<\/bg-quote>
\n recently declared bankruptcy\u00a0after an agreement with Foxconn fell through.<\/p>\n
