{"id":41494,"date":"2023-07-28T05:54:25","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T09:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/u-s-stock-futures-bounce-back-with-two-key-inflation-gauges-on-tap\/"},"modified":"2023-07-28T05:54:26","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T09:54:26","slug":"u-s-stock-futures-bounce-back-with-two-key-inflation-gauges-on-tap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=41494","title":{"rendered":"U.S. stock futures bounce back with two key inflation gauges on tap"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"js-article__body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-sbid=\"WP-MKTW-0002336500\" role=\"document\">\n<p>U.S. stock futures bounced back Friday ahead of the release of two indicators that Federal Reserve officials will use to judge inflation pressures.<\/p>\n<h2>What\u2019s happening<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      Dow Jones Industrial Average futures<br \/>\n        YM00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210407078\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.23%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 77 points, or 0.2%, to 35508.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      S&amp;P 500 futures<br \/>\n        ES00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209948968\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.42%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       gained 16 points, or 0.4%, to 4580.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Nasdaq 100 futures<br \/>\n        NQ00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210219788\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.75%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       increased 101 points, or 0.7%, to 15672.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average<br \/>\n        DJIA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598065\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-0.67%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 237 points, or 0.67%, to 35283, the S&amp;P 500<br \/>\n        SPX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210599714\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-0.64%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       declined 29 points, or 0.64%, to 4537, and the Nasdaq Composite<br \/>\n        COMP,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598365\/realtime\" class=\"negative\">-0.55%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       dropped 77 points, or 0.55%, to 14050.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<h2>What\u2019s driving markets<\/h2>\n<p>Friday will see two major releases on inflation: the PCE price index, which is the Fed\u2019s preferred measure of inflation, as well as the quarterly employment cost index, a crucial measure of wages. Both are due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n<p>Expectations are that the core PCE price index will rise 0.2% on a monthly basis, and that the employment cost index will climb 1.1%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA soft ECI number can wipe out the final 8bp that is priced for the U.S. tightening cycle this year and will probably knock the dollar 0.5-1.0% lower. This would be a good story for risk assets, where both the Fed and seemingly the ECB would be closer to ending tightening cycles,\u201d said Chris Turner, global head of markets at ING.<\/p>\n<p>Earnings season rolls on with companies including Exxon Mobil<br \/>\n        XOM,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/204455864\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.31%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Procter &amp; Gamble<br \/>\n        PG,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202894679\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.19%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       set to release results.<\/p>\n<p>Markets also were paying attention to the latest Bank of Japan decision, where the central bank did as a report in the Nikkei that jarred markets on Thursday, and allowed bond yields<br \/>\n        TMBMKJP-10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">0.550%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       to exceed the previous boundary of 0.5% and go as high as 1%.
