Recent court revelations surrounding\u00a0Sam Bankman-Fried<\/strong>‘s family have exposed a web of deceit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One such revelation concerned\u00a0Samuel Bankman<\/strong>, Bankman-Fried’s father, who has been using the $10 million gifted to him by his son, which was allegedly looted from FTX customers, to pay for his legal defense.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it was revealed that he squandered at least a million of the funds on ill-advised cryptocurrency trades.<\/p>\n

Another not-so-pleasant revelation involved\u00a0Gabe Bankman-Fried<\/strong>, Sam’s brother, who was deeply involved in FTX’s operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gabe, a former Democratic politico, ran a nonprofit organization primarily funded by FTX.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also promoted the concept of effective altruism, a philosophy that seemingly aimed to help humanity with monetary contributions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, it was revealed that he authored a memo proposing the purchase of\u00a0Nauru<\/strong>, a small island nation, to\u00a0create a bunker for survival\u00a0in the event of a global catastrophe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The goal, according to the memo, would be to build a bunker that could be used in the event that \u201850%-99.99% of people die,\u2019 with the aim of ensuring that most EAs, or effective altruists, can survive, as well as to develop \u2018sensible regulation around human genetic enhancement, and build a lab there\u2026Probably there are other things it\u2019s useful to do with a sovereign country, too,'” according to\u00a0a Forbes report.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As for\u00a0Barbara Fried<\/strong>, Sam Bankman-Fried’s mother and a law professor at\u00a0Stanford<\/strong>, there is no direct evidence of her involvement with FTX.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“All that can be said for now is she didn\u2019t do a great job of drawing on her scholarly research on corporate ethics to guide her sons,” Forbes’s Jeff John Roberts wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While only Sam Bankman-Fried has faced legal charges thus far, the recent filing sheds light on the broader moral decay within his family.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FTX Sues Former Executives to Reclaim $1 Billion<\/h2>\n

Last week, FTX\u00a0filed a complaint against Sam Bankman-Fried\u00a0and other key executives to retrieve more than $1 billion in allegedly misappropriated funds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The lawsuit, filed by FTX under the direction of an executive team led by restructuring expert John Ray, named former Alameda Research CEO\u00a0Caroline Ellison<\/strong>, FTX co-founder\u00a0Gary Wang<\/strong>, former FTX engineering director\u00a0Nishad Singh<\/strong>, and Bankman-Fried as defendants.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The complaint alleged that FTX executives breached their fiduciary duties by misappropriating customer funds on a \u201ccontinuous basis to finance luxury condominiums, political and \u2018charitable’ contributions, speculative investments and other pet projects.”<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also claimed that Ellison paid herself $28.8 million in bonuses and used $10 million of the funds to purchase a stake in an artificial intelligence company.<\/p>\n

The filing said many of the alleged fraudulent transfers occurred while the exchange was insolvent.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that last month, FTX debtors revealed that the exchange has made \u201csubstantial progress\u201d in securing assets,\u00a0recovering as much as $7 billion\u00a0in liquid assets so far.<\/p>\n

The exchange owed customers approximately $8.7 billion when it went bankrupt last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
