The Bank of Japan on Friday should leave rates unchanged but may say something about removing elements of its ultra-loose policy, such as buying bonds to suppress yields.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the European Central Bank will deliver its decision. Another increase in borrowing costs is expected, but the ECB\u2019s hawkishness may be tempered by reports released Monday that showed economic activity in the eurozone slumped to an eight-month low in July.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate results due on Monday include Domino\u2019s Pizza<br \/>\n        DPZ,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/201587798\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.62%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Whirlpool<br \/>\n        WHR,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200296850\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.15%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Logitech<br \/>\n        LOGI,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/204321690\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.91%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and NXP Semiconductors<br \/>\n        NXPI,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202999625\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.64%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span><br \/>\n        Alphabet<br \/>\n        GOOG,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205453964\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.65%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Microsoft<br \/>\n        MSFT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207732364\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.89%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       will present their numbers on Tuesday, Meta<br \/>\n        META,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205064656\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.73%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       on Wednesday and Intel<br \/>\n        INTC,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203649727\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.95%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       on Thursday..<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe debate around how much the economy needs to be zapped with higher rates to quash inflation properly is still raging on. While the expectation is that interest rates will need to go higher still, that\u2019s led to some stagnation in the US markets as we kick off the week, following strong gains last week,\u201d said Sophie Lund-Yates, lead equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestors are holding their breath ahead of key tech earnings, which among other things, will paint a picture for how advertising demand is shaping up, as well as how the league tables are looking for the AI race.
