The blue-chip gauge is now heading for its longest streak of daily gains since Sept. 20, 2017, according to Dow Jones Market Data. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the latest milestone as value stocks and other lagging sectors of the market appear to be playing \u201ccatch up\u201d, said Paul Nolte, senior wealth adviser and market strategist at Murphy &amp; Sylvest Wealth Management, during a phone interview with MarketWatch. Although the Dow\u2019s year-to-date gains are still well behind those of the S&amp;P 500, with the blue-chip gauge up 6.6% since Jan. 1, FactSet data show. <\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq closed at their highest levels in nearly 16 months. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re finally seeing the rotation to value,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Dow is playing catch up with the S&amp;P 500 and the Nasdaq.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Technology stocks were lagging following earnings from <strong>Netflix Inc.<\/strong><br \/>\n        NFLX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202353025\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-8.47%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       released late Wednesday, which showed that revenue fell short. Shares fell 9%. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Tesla Inc.<\/strong><br \/>\n        TSLA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203558040\/lastsale\" class=\"negative\">-8.91%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       shares fell 8.1% after the electric vehicle maker beat Wall Street expectations for its second quarter but not in the blowout fashion that some market observers were expecting.   <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNetflix missed sales estimates and issued lower-than-expected Q3 guidance, while Tesla\u2019s results showed shrinking profitability with squeeze on margins,\u201d said Henry Allen, strategist at Deutsche Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, shares of <strong>IBM Corp. <\/strong><br \/>\n        IBM,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203856914\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+2.21%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and <strong>Johnson &amp; Johnson <\/strong><br \/>\n        JNJ,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/201724570\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+6.16%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       drove the Dow higher after both companies beat earnings expectations. <\/p>\n<p>Bad news for Netflix seemed to infect other megacap technology names, as <strong>Alphabet Inc. Class A<\/strong><br \/>\n        GOOGL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202490156\/lastsale\" class=\"negative\">-1.84%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and <strong>Alphabet Inc. <\/strong><br \/>\n        GOOG,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205453964\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.02%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       retreated, as did shares of <strong>Apple Inc.<\/strong><br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.53%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and <strong>Microsoft Corp. <\/strong><br \/>\n        MSFT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207732364\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.96%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       after the latter hit a record this week. <\/p>\n<p>Investors also digested earnings from <strong>American Airlines Group Inc.<\/strong><br \/>\n        AAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209207041\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-5.90%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and <strong>Blackstone Inc. <\/strong><br \/>\n        BX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203156858\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.59%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       which reported before the opening bell. After the close, investors will hear from <strong>Capital One Financial Corp.<\/strong><br \/>\n        COF,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/204480509\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-2.36%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       <strong>CSX Corp. <\/strong><br \/>\n        CSX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/208536759\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.16%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and <strong>First Financial Bancorp<\/strong><br \/>\n        FFBC,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/206363023\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-1.04%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       along with a few others.<\/p>\n<p>In U.S. economic data, weekly jobless benefit claims data showed the number of Americans applying for first-time unemployment benefits fell to a two-month low.
