Investing.com \u2013 U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.<\/p>\n

At the close in NYSE, the declined 1.07%, while the index lost 0.79%, and the index declined 0.82%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 0.92% or 3.12 points to trade at 341.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) added 0.25% or 0.48 points to end at 191.81 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) was down 0.12% or 0.19 points to 152.05 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Home Depot <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:), which fell 2.87% or 8.93 points to trade at 301.87 at the close. 3M Company (NYSE:) declined 2.37% or 2.34 points to end at 96.29 and American Express <\/span><\/span> Company (NYSE:) was down 2.30% or 4.03 points to 170.94.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the S&P 500 were BorgWarner Inc (NYSE:) which rose 3.95% to 44.88, Sealed Air <\/span><\/span> Corporation (NYSE:) which was up 2.49% to settle at 40.29 and Garmin Ltd <\/span><\/span> (NYSE:) which gained 2.10% to close at 107.46.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Moderna <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.25% to 118.29 in late trade, PayPal Holdings Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which lost 3.94% to settle at 66.14 and Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.87% to 47.33 at the close.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were EdtechX Holdings Acquisition <\/span><\/span> Corp II (NASDAQ:) which rose 94.05% to 22.95, Caribou Biosciences <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 45.59% to settle at 5.94 and Mullen Automotive Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 29.02% to close at 0.22.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Allarity Therapeutics Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which was down 53.99% to 3.81 in late trade, VBI Vaccines Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 51.24% to settle at 1.18 and Alpine Summit Energy Partners Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 48.40% to 0.29 at the close.<\/p>\n

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2522 to 457 and 44 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2683 fell and 850 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Allarity Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 53.99% or 4.47 to 3.81. Shares in VBI Vaccines Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 51.24% or 1.24 to 1.18. Shares in Alpine Summit Energy Partners Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 48.40% or 0.27 to 0.29. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 8.89% to 15.44 a new 1-month high.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.57% or 10.95 to $1,916.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $71.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.09 to trade at $76.56 a barrel.<\/p>\n

EUR\/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.09, while USD\/JPY fell 0.36% to 144.12.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 102.82.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
