{"id":30709,"date":"2023-07-03T07:14:36","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T11:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/u-s-stock-futures-mixed-as-tesla-bounce-boosts-nasdaq\/"},"modified":"2023-07-03T07:14:37","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T11:14:37","slug":"u-s-stock-futures-mixed-as-tesla-bounce-boosts-nasdaq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=30709","title":{"rendered":"U.S. stock futures mixed as Tesla bounce boosts Nasdaq"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"js-article__body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-sbid=\"WP-MKTW-0002240204\" role=\"document\">\n<p>U.S. stock futures were struggling to establish a trend early Monday as the second half of the year gets underway.<\/p>\n<h2>How are stock-index futures trading <\/h2>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      S&amp;P 500 futures<br \/>\n        ES00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209948968\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.04%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 2 points, or 0%, to 4490<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Dow Jones Industrial Average futures<br \/>\n        YM00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210407078\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.12%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 37 points, or 0.1%, to 34606<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Nasdaq 100 futures<br \/>\n        NQ00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210219788\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.18%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       added 45 points, or 0.3%, to 15382<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average<br \/>\n        DJIA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598065\/realtime\" class=\"positive\">+0.84%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 285 points, or 0.84%, to 34408, the S&amp;P 500<br \/>\n        SPX,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210599714\/realtime\" class=\"positive\">+1.23%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       increased 54 points, or 1.23%, to 4450, and the Nasdaq Composite<br \/>\n        COMP,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210598365\/realtime\" class=\"positive\">+1.45%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       gained 197 points, or 1.45%, to 13788.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<h2>What\u2019s driving markets<\/h2>\n<p>Moves in stock futures are minimal, with fresh market catalysts a bit thin on the ground early Monday,  and the motivation to trade further denuded by the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq closing at 1 p.m. Eastern ahead of Tuesday\u2019s Independence Day holiday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we kick off July, U.S. Independence Day tomorrow will ensure a stop start week but it remains a big one with\u00a0U.S. payrolls (Friday) and the global PMIs and U.S. ISMs through the week,\u201d said Jim Reid, strategist at Deutsche Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Investors may be excused for taking a pause after a strong first half of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Nasdaq Composite rose 31.7% in the first six months of the year, helped by hopes the economy has not been too badly damaged by the Federal Reserve\u2019s sharp increase in borrowing costs as it battled to push inflation down from a multi-decade high of 9.1% a year ago to the current 4%.<\/p>\n<p>Large cap technology stocks, like Apple<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+2.31%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Microsoft<br \/>\n        MSFT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207732364\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.64%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Nvidia<br \/>\n        NVDA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200467500\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+3.63%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       have led the way. The Nasdaq 100 has jumped nearly 40%, adding nearly $5 trillion of value, according to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p>And Nasdaq 100 futures are outperforming slightly on Monday as Tesla shares gain more than 6% in premarket trading after the EV maker announced over the weekend higher than expected sales.<\/p>\n<p>Long-time bull Tom Lee reckons the market has further to rally.
