Investing.com \u2013 U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.<\/p>\n

At the close in NYSE, the rose 0.80%, while the index added 0.45%, and the index fell 0.02%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:), which rose 3.53% or 4.89 points to trade at 143.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs Group <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:) added 3.05% or 9.58 points to end at 323.24 and Visa Inc <\/span><\/span> Class A (NYSE:) was up 2.79% or 6.37 points to 234.33 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 2.44% or 0.71 points to trade at 28.37 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) declined 1.97% or 0.66 points to end at 32.91 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.83% or 1.76 points to 210.41.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Catalent Inc <\/span><\/span> (NYSE:) which rose 6.72% to 43.04, Wells Fargo <\/span><\/span> & Company (NYSE:) which was up 4.51% to settle at 42.45 and Bio-Techne Corp (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.28% to close at 79.35.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were McCormick & Company Incorporated (NYSE:) which was down 5.53% to 86.77 in late trade, United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 4.58% to settle at 53.72 and Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 4.09% to 64.33 at the close.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Sigilon Therapeutics\u00a0Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 440.92% to 21.15, Eco Wave Power Global AB ADR (NASDAQ:) which was up 53.13% to settle at 2.45 and Kintara Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 40.80% to close at 4.21.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were BioXcel Therapeutics Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which was down 63.84% to 6.39 in late trade, iMedia Brands Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 33.02% to settle at 0.13 and Evelo Biosciences <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 30.68% to 0.18 at the close.<\/p>\n

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2086 to 879 and 74 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2207 rose and 1311 declined, while 145 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.44% or 0.71 to 28.37. Shares in Sigilon Therapeutics\u00a0Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; up 440.92% or 17.24 to 21.15. Shares in BioXcel Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 63.84% or 11.28 to 6.39. Shares in iMedia Brands Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 33.02% or 0.06 to 0.13. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 0.82% to 13.54.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.33% or 6.35 to $1,915.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.36% or 0.25 to hit $69.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.22 to trade at $74.46 a barrel.<\/p>\n

EUR\/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.09, while USD\/JPY rose 0.26% to 144.84.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 103.03.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
