{"id":29589,"date":"2023-06-30T08:32:14","date_gmt":"2023-06-30T12:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/markets\/gold-falls-for-4th-day-on-track-to-finish-first-half-at-lowest-since-march\/"},"modified":"2023-06-30T08:32:15","modified_gmt":"2023-06-30T12:32:15","slug":"gold-falls-for-4th-day-on-track-to-finish-first-half-at-lowest-since-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=29589","title":{"rendered":"Gold falls for 4th day, on track to finish first half at lowest since March"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"js-article__body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-sbid=\"WP-MKTW-0002234460\" role=\"document\">\n<p>Gold prices fell for a fourth straight session on Friday as the yellow metal looked set to finish what has been a painful quarter at its lowest level in more than three months. <\/p>\n<h2>Price action<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      Gold futures for August delivery<br \/>\n        GC00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210034565\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.28%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        GCQ23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/229917075\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.28%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell by $4.80, or 0.3%, to $1,913 per ounce on Comex. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Silver futures for September delivery<br \/>\n        SI00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210315219\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.80%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        SIU23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/230611017\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.80%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       lost 21 cents, or 0.9%, to $22.60 per ounce.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Palladium for September delivery<br \/>\n        PAU23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/236560919\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.48%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       shed $9.40, or 0.8%, to $1,218 per ounce, while platinum for October delivery<br \/>\n        PLV23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/237284959\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.79%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       shed $10,80, or 1.2%, to $895.80 per ounce. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      Copper for September delivery<br \/>\n        HGU23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210058691\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.46%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       gained 1 cent, or 0.3%, to $3.71 per pound. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Market drivers<\/h2>\n<p>\u201c\u2026It\u2019s been a painful quarter for\u00a0gold\u00a0prices. With equity markets going into overdrive and recession nerves calming, demand for safe haven assets suffered a major blow, and the sharp rally in real yields didn\u2019t do\u00a0gold\u00a0any favors either,\u201d said Marios Hadjikyriacos, senior investment analyst at XM.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>Gold has had a topsy-turvey quarter. Prices peaked in early May at the second-highest settlement on record for a most-active contract when it finished at $2,055.70 an ounce\u00a0on May 4. <\/p>\n<p>The highest settlement level on record for the yellow metal arrived on Aug. 6, 2020, when prices finished at $2,069.40 per ounce, according to Dow Jones Market Data.<\/p>\n<p>Then commenced a decline that has seen the most-active contract shed more than $100.
