Investing.com \u2013 Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.<\/p>\n

At the close in Tokyo, the gained 2.02%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. <\/span><\/span> (TYO:), which rose 7.94% or 50.00 points to trade at 680.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp <\/span><\/span> (TYO:) added 5.23% or 219.00 points to end at 4,405.00 and Yamaha Motor Co Ltd <\/span><\/span> (TYO:) was up 4.48% or 178.00 points to 4,155.00 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. <\/span><\/span> (TYO:), which fell 6.20% or 232.00 points to trade at 3,512.00 at the close. Nippon Yusen K.K <\/span><\/span> (TYO:) declined 1.09% or 35.00 points to end at 3,188.00 and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. <\/span><\/span> (TYO:) was down 0.68% or 24.00 points to 3,486.00.<\/p>\n

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3050 to 612 and 179 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (TYO:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.23% or 219.00 to 4,405.00. Shares in Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.48% or 178.00 to 4,155.00. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.67% to 20.00.<\/p>\n

Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.44% or 0.30 to $68.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.40% or 0.29 to hit $72.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 5.00 to trade at $1,918.80 a troy ounce.<\/p>\n

USD\/JPY was up 0.04% to 144.13, while EUR\/JPY fell 0.06% to 157.82.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 102.24.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
