Investing.com \u2013 U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.<\/p>\n

At the close in NYSE, the declined 0.04%, while the index lost 0.45%, and the index declined 1.16%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Home Depot <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.38% or 7.15 points to trade at 307.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Nike <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:) added 2.04% or 2.23 points to end at 111.75 and Chevron <\/span><\/span> Corp (NYSE:) was up 1.76% or 2.66 points to 154.01 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:), which fell 1.92% or 6.42 points to trade at 328.60 at the close. Visa Inc <\/span><\/span> Class A (NYSE:) declined 1.39% or 3.20 points to end at 226.35 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.34% or 1.53 points to 113.06.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Boston Properties Inc (NYSE:) which rose 9.84% to 56.57, Alexandria Real Estate Equities <\/span><\/span> Inc (NYSE:) which was up 4.98% to settle at 114.51 and Newell Brands Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.71% to close at 8.22.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Carnival Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 7.66% to 14.59 in late trade, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 6.06% to settle at 241.05 and CarMax Inc <\/span><\/span> (NYSE:) which was down 5.75% to 81.25 at the close.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Trxade <\/span><\/span> Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 93.84% to 16.36, Benitec Biopharma <\/span><\/span> Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was up 81.36% to settle at 0.36 and MoonLake Immunotherapeutics (NASDAQ:) which gained 77.55% to close at 45.95.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Avalo Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 88.69% to 0.50 in late trade, FibroGen Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which lost 83.12% to settle at 2.71 and C3is Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which was down 29.66% to 1.85 at the close.<\/p>\n

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1929 to 1028 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1984 fell and 1571 advanced, while 140 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Avalo Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 88.69% or 3.92 to 0.50. Shares in FibroGen Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 83.12% or 13.34 to 2.71. Shares in MoonLake Immunotherapeutics (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; up 77.55% or 20.07 to 45.95. Shares in C3is Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 29.66% or 0.78 to 1.85. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 6.03% to 14.25.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 3.05 to $1,932.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.64% or 0.44 to hit $69.60 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.53 to trade at $74.54 a barrel.<\/p>\n

EUR\/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.09, while USD\/JPY fell 0.11% to 143.51.<\/p>\n

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 102.40.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
