Honda Motor Co. has recalled about 1.2 million sport-utility vehicles and minivans, because the rearview-camera image may not appear on the display, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.<\/p>\n

According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Honda vehicles being recalled include Odysseys, model years 2018 to 2023; Passports, model years 2019 to 2023; and Pilots, model years 2019 to 2022.<\/p>\n

The potential number of vehicles affected total 1,198,280.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to a faulty Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable connector, the rearview-camera image may not appear on the display,\u201d the NHTSA said in a letter to Honda. \u201cAs such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, \u2018Rear Visibility.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Honda\u2019s U.S.-listed stock
\n HMC,

\n slipped 0.3% in morning trading, while TE Connectivity shares gained 1.3%.<\/p>\n

Honda first received a report in February 2019 about issues with audio and display flickering on its rearview-camera display. The Japan-based automaker observed a potential trend and extended the warranty to vehicles affected by the issue in January 2021.<\/p>\n

The company decided earlier this month to conduct a safety recall, after receiving 273,870 warranty claims related to the issue.<\/p>\n

Honda said it has received no reports of injuries or deaths related to the issue.<\/p>\n

Honda\u2019s stock has rallied 31.5% year to date, while the iShares MSCI Japan exchange-traded fund
