Two of Hollywood\u2019s biggest studios released blockbuster movies over Father\u2019s Day weekend, but both disappointed.<\/p>\n

\n Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s<\/span>
\n (ticker:WBD) big budget film \u2018The Flash\u2019, the DC superhero\u2019s first-ever stand-alone feature film, brought in $55.1 million for its opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada, according to industry experts Comscore. \u00a0It cost around $200 million to produce and failed to match the $67 million that Warner Bros\u2019 Black Adam superhero movie had achieved last year.<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s (DIS) \u2018Elemental\u2019, made by Pixar, cost a similar amount to produce but the animation only managed $29.5 million domestically for its opening weekend. In terms of comparison back in 2016 when \u2018Finding Dory,\u2019 the sequel to \u2018Finding Nemo,\u2019 was released it had grossed $139 million on its opening weekend, The Wall Street Journal reported. <\/p>\n

Elemental is on course for the second-lowest opening in Pixar\u2019s history for a widely released film, according to CNBC.<\/p>\n
