\u00a9 Reuters General Motors (GM) announces $1B investment in Brookville DMAX plant<\/span>
\n<\/i>\n<\/div>\n

General Motors (NYSE:) held an event at their DMAX plant in Brookville, Ohio Friday where the automaker announced that it would invest nearly $1 billion into the facility.<\/p>\n

During the event, GM leaders said it would be spending $920 million on the facility to help support the production of internal combustion engines for heavy-duty trucks. Construction will begin immediately, and will result in a 1.1M square-foot addition to the existing facility, quadrupling its current size.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the original plant with DMAX has a good, long future with us,\u201d said Mike Trevorrow, vice president, GM North America manufacturing. \u201cWe\u2019re going to continue to build the engine there. And then as we start the other (new Brookville) factory up, it\u2019s a good opportunity for them (Moraine DMAX workers) to come and be part of the history of heavy-duty trucks continuing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked when the Moraine workforce will be moved to Brookville, Trevorrow said, \u201cWe haven\u2019t announced the timeline just yet. More to come with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the building to build, we have the tools to get in,\u201d he added. \u201cWe have to get it up and running. We\u2019re anxious to get going. But this is the first step.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shares of GM are down 0.13% in afternoon trading on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
