{"id":20805,"date":"2023-06-10T04:28:03","date_gmt":"2023-06-10T08:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/news\/tradeweb-exchange-traded-funds-update-may-2023\/"},"modified":"2023-06-10T04:28:05","modified_gmt":"2023-06-10T08:28:05","slug":"tradeweb-exchange-traded-funds-update-may-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/?p=20805","title":{"rendered":"Tradeweb Exchange-Traded Funds Update &#8211; May 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-test-id=\"content-container\">\n<p><figure class=\"getty-figure\" data-type=\"getty-image\"><picture>  <\/picture><figcaption> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>The following data is derived from trading activity on the Tradeweb Markets institutional European- and U.S.-listed ETF platforms.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>European-Listed ETFs<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Total traded volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Trading activity on the Tradeweb European ETF marketplace reached EUR 44.8 billion in May, while<span class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\"> the proportion of transactions processed via Tradeweb\u2019s Automated Intelligent Execution (AiEX) tool was 81%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Adam Gould, head of equities at Tradeweb, said: \u201cA record 21% of the total platform flow was executed via AiEX last month, proof that European ETF traders increasingly use the solution to automate higher touch, larger size transactions.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\"><strong>Volume breakdown<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible\">Fixed income and commodity-based ETFs saw net buying in May, with \u2018buys\u2019 surpassing \u2018sells\u2019 by 8 and 12 percentage points, respectively. In contrast, \u2018buys\u2019 in equity ETFs lagged \u2018sells\u2019 by two percentage points. Activity in all three asset classes mirrored both April\u2019s and the previous 12-month rolling average.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">North America Equities proved to be the most actively-traded ETF category during the month, with over EUR 9 billion in total traded volume.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/saupload_2023may_etfupdate_eucharts.jpg\" alt=\"EU ETF Update Chart\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Top ten by traded notional volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Half of May\u2019s ten most actively-traded products were bond-based, with the iShares $ Corporate Bond UCITS ETF moving up two places from April to be ranked first.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/saupload_2023may_etfupdate_eutop10.jpg\" alt=\"EU ETF Top 10 Chart\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">U.S.-Listed ETFs<\/h2>\n<h4 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Total traded volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Total consolidated U.S. ETF notional value traded in May amounted to USD 53.4 billion.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Volume breakdown<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">As a percentage of total notional value, equities accounted for 47% and fixed income for 44%, with the remainder comprising commodity and specialty ETFs.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ifintechworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/saupload_2023may_etfupdate_uscharts.jpg\" alt=\"US ETF Update Chart\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\"><strong>Top ten by traded notional volume<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"paywall-full-content invisible no-summary-bullets\">Fixed income products dominated May\u2019s top ten by traded notional volume, particularly those offering investment exposure to Treasurys.
