I think we had some very productive discussions on artificial intelligence risks, and the need for some oversight and regulation,\u201d Musk said in a live Twitter Space on Monday, joined by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>\u201cMy understanding from those conversations is that China will be initiating AI regulation in China,\u201d Musk said.<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2019s comments come as the public and U.S. policy makers increasingly focus on AI regulation. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, which developed ChatGPT, urged U.S. lawmakers last month about the importance of regulating AI. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if this technology goes wrong, it can go quite wrong, and we want to be vocal about that,\u201d Altman testified in May. \u201cWe want to work with the government to prevent that from happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since then, no major, concrete AI regulations have been put in place in the U.S., but policy makers have continued to voice their thoughts on how important it is to ensure AI is controlled. <\/p>\n<p>In May, the White House released a list of efforts it is making to ensure \u201cresearch, development, and deployment of responsible AI that protects individuals\u2019 rights and safety and delivers results for the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senators Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker,\u00a0and Michael Bennet also introduced the REAL Political Ads Act in May. The legislation would require a disclaimer on political ads that use images or video generated by artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
