Yields move in the opposite direction to prices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 10-year Treasury<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">3.738%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 4.7 basis points to 3.747%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 30-year Treasury<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD30Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">3.921%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 4.6 basis points to 3.932%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What\u2019s driving markets<\/h2>\n<p>Appetite for risk across global markets was damping demand for Treasuries, with yields also nudged higher by last week\u2019s jobs report, which suggested the U.S. economy has so far absorbed the Federal Reserve\u2019s rate-hike cycle without too much damage.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>However, the jobs data also suggested that wage inflation was easing and this is encouraging investors to bet on the Fed pausing its policy of monetary tightening after its meeting next week.<\/p>\n<p>Markets are pricing in a 80.5% probability that the Fed will leave interest rates unchanged at a range of 5.0% to 5.25% after its meeting on June 14, according to the CME FedWatch tool.<\/p>\n<p>Just a week ago that probability was 36%, and the chances of a 25 basis point hike was 64%.<\/p>\n<p>However, the probability of another 25 basis point rate rise in July has climbed from 5% a month ago to 55% on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. economic updates set for release on Monday include the S&amp;P U.S. services PMI for May at 9:45 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. by factory orders for April and the ISM services report for May. All times Eastern.<\/p>\n<h2>What are analysts saying<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThe week after payrolls is almost always a bit quiet for data and this week we have the added kicker of a Fed that has started their media blackout period ahead of next week\u2019s FOMC. Remember that U.S. CPI comes out on Tuesday 13th, a day ahead of the FOMC decision,\u201d said Jim Reid, strategist at Deutsche Bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Fed wants to subtlety communicate to the market one way or another ahead of next week then well placed media stories might surface. However before CPI that does seem unlikely as nothing will be 100% decided until then.
