Investing.com \u2013 U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.<\/p>\n

At the close in NYSE, the added 1.00%, while the index climbed 1.30%, and the index gained 2.19%.<\/p>\n

The best performers of the session on the were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which rose 5.84% or 1.60 points to trade at 29.00 at the close. Meanwhile, American Express <\/span><\/span> Company (NYSE:) added 4.12% or 6.23 points to end at 157.31 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was up 2.63% or 5.53 points to 215.44 in late trade.<\/p>\n

The worst performers of the session were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.10% or 1.23 points to trade at 111.07 at the close. The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.75% or 1.30 points to end at 172.37 and Chevron <\/span><\/span> Corp (NYSE:) was down 0.30% or 0.47 points to 154.09.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Gap Inc (NYSE:) which rose 12.40% to 8.34, Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 11.52% to settle at 812.73 and Arista Networks <\/span><\/span> (NYSE:) which gained 9.06% to close at 170.34.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 13.37% to 420.27 in late trade, Kroger Company (NYSE:) which lost 3.27% to settle at 47.30 and Eversource Energy (NYSE:) which was down 3.06% to 68.69 at the close.<\/p>\n

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Verastem Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which rose 125.55% to 1.01, Elevation Oncology <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 66.78% to settle at 5.02 and Presto Automation <\/span><\/span> Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 63.93% to close at 3.59.<\/p>\n

The worst performers were Canaan Inc <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which was down 26.74% to 1.89 in late trade, mCloud Technologies Corp <\/span><\/span> (NASDAQ:) which lost 24.42% to settle at 0.54 and ROC Energy Acquisition <\/span><\/span> Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 23.30% to 8.10 at the close.<\/p>\n

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2046 to 923 and 89 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2246 rose and 1331 declined, while 152 ended unchanged.<\/p>\n

Shares in Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 11.52% or 83.93 to 812.73. Shares in Arista Networks (NYSE:) rose to all time highs; rising 9.06% or 14.15 to 170.34. Shares in Eversource Energy (NYSE:) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.06% or 2.17 to 68.69. Shares in Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.63% or 5.53 to 215.44. Shares in Canaan Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 26.74% or 0.69 to 1.89. Shares in ROC Energy Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 23.30% or 2.46 to 8.10. <\/p>\n

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.22% to 17.95.<\/p>\n

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 2.95 to $1,946.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.34% or 0.96 to hit $72.79 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.77 to trade at $77.03 a barrel.<\/p>\n

EUR\/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.07, while USD\/JPY rose 0.38% to 140.59.<\/p>\n
