Ripple is bringing on the chief financial officer of market researcher Nielsen to its board of directors, the crypto firm announced on Friday.<\/p>\n

Warren Jenson was added to the board and was also appointed as Ripple\u2019s chair of the audit committee, overseeing the auditing process of Ripple\u2019s operations, according to a press release<\/u>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cRipple is in the midst of unprecedented scale, and Warren\u2019s background will be invaluable as Ripple continues to be a responsible global leader in the space,\u201d said Ripple\u2019s CEO Brad Garlinghouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jenson is also on the board of directors for software company DigitalOcean and technology and artificial intelligence company Jobcase.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFor cryptocurrency to successfully deliver on its potential to revolutionize traditional financial infrastructure, companies in the space must prioritize transparency. I\u2019m excited to bring my experience to the company and share Ripple\u2019s commitment to upholding the highest standards,\u201d Jenson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jenson will join former US Treasurer Rosie Rios,former JPMorgan Chase Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer Sandie O\u2019Connor and Managing Director of Albright Stonebridge Group Michael Warren \u2014\u00a0who are already on Ripple\u2019s board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ripple has been embroiled in a long-standing dispute with the SEC since 2020 when the agency accused the company as well as Garlinghouse and co-founder Christian Larsen with raising $1.3 billion through the sale of XRP.<\/p>\n

A decision is still expected this year.<\/p>\n

A judge ruled earlier this week that the SEC could not seal certain documents<\/u> in connection with a 2018 speech from agency\u2019s former director Bill Hinman.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a now infamous speech, the SEC\u2019s former Corporate Finance Director Bill Hinman\u00a0 expressing his own views and not that of the SEC, said if a digital asset were to be \u201csufficiently decentralized,\u201d they may no longer be a security \u2014 which could be beneficial to Ripple\u2019s case.<\/p>\n

The SEC had argued that the documents should be sealed due to the\u00a0 \u201cclear lack of relevance of these documents to the summary judgment motions\u201d and because their disclosure \u201cwould be highly prejudicial to the SEC,\u201d according to the filing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Court disagrees,\u201d the judge said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
